NORTHEAST LITERARY MAGAZINE WINS GOLD AWARD

The Northeast Alabama Community College Aurora literary magazine recently received a Gold Award in the Twenty-first Annual Admissions Advertising Awards competition by the National Newspaper of Admissions Marketing—Admissions Marketing Report.

The gold award was in the Publication/Internal Group 2: School with 2,000-4,999 students. Northeast was the only award recipient appearing in this category.

“We are very proud of Mrs. Joan Reeves and Sigma Kappa Delta for winning this award,” stated Dr. David Campbell, NACC President. “Mrs. Reeves is very dedicated to her work and the results show in this honor. Winning a national competition like this is just a tremendous accomplishment.”

Northeast was the only two-year college from Alabama to win one of these coveted awards. The literary magazine was submitted for consideration by Mrs. Debra Barrentine, Director of Promotions and Marketing at the college.

“To be recognized in this way is indeed quite an achievement for us, and personally, working on the Aurora has been such a gratifying experience for me. This magazine is one which allows our students as well as middle and high school students in our service area an opportunity to see their works in print. What a compliment this is to our English instructors as well as those in our secondary schools to be able to see our students excel in this way,” stated Reeves.

The literary magazine is published annually by the Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta and the English and Fine Arts Department of Northeast Alabama Community College.
