Northeast
Alabama Community College received awards at the Alabama College System
Public Relations Association summer conference held recently in
Birmingham.
During the
conference, the Pyramid Awards ceremony recognized two-year college
marketing professionals who submitted marketing items created and used
during the 2005 year. Winners received either a Pyramid Award or
Certificates of Achievement or Merit.
Debra
Barrentine, Director of Promotions and Marketing at Northeast, received
a Pyramid Award for the design of the college’s full color recruiting
brochure “Discover NACC—Discover Success!” Judges’ comments included,
“Very functional—included map and tear-off response card.”
Sigma Kappa
Delta won a Pyramid Award in the Student Publications category for the
Aurora Magazine 2005, sponsored by Joan Reeves. This publication
includes original art and written works by NACC students as well as area
high school and middle school writing competition winners. Aurora
is published annually by the Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta
and the English and Fine Arts Department at NACC.
The Yearbook
Staff won an Award of Merit in the Student Publications category for the
Backroads Yearbook 2005, “A Focus on Identity,” sponsored by
Sheila Akins. This is the 32nd volume of Backroads. Backroads
is prepared annually by students participating in the Mass
Communications classes at NACC.
“Letting our
community know what is going on at Northeast is extremely important to
us,” stated NACC President Dr. David Campbell. “It is a real
accomplishment to have our staff recognized statewide for their skills
in communicating with the public.”
The mission of
ACSPRA is to enhance the image, strengthen and promote awareness and
public perception of the Alabama College System.
