The Northeast
Jazz Band was formed in 1982 by current director Daniel Knox.
Since that time it has performed for various functions throughout the
state of Alabama.
What is the Jazz Band?
The Jazz Band is comprised of students who perform a variety of music
(mostly jazz). Jazz band is open to all students, music and
non-music majors, as well as community musicians.
Where has the Jazz Band performed?
The Northeast Jazz Band performs for civic groups, schools, church and
other community functions. They perform on a regular basis
in DeKalb, and Jackson counties. They have also performed in
Birmingham, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Mobile, Auburn, Florence and have
had numerous appearances at the Panoply Arts Festival in Huntsville.
Does the jazz band perform at jazz festivals?
The jazz band makes annual appearances at the Alabama Community College
Music Showcase, where it has received consistent superior ratings when
judged. It has also been rated superior at the annual Alabama Jazz Hall
of Fame Festival.
